Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi chaired a meeting with senior officials to deliberate on framing a clear and balanced policy regarding encroachment on forest land, in line with the directions of the Supreme Court of India.
The Minister stated that the state government is committed to upholding the principles of a welfare state while ensuring full compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders. He emphasized that the proposed policy would aim to maintain a fair balance between the protection of forest land and safeguarding the interests of the people.
During the meeting, it was decided to constitute a Sub-Committee under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary (Revenue) Anil Chauhan, with representatives from the Forest and Law Departments as members. The panel has been tasked with thoroughly examining the Supreme Court’s guidelines and submitting a draft policy within one week.
