The Annual Speech Day – 2014 for the senior section of Auckland Boys took place today as Dr Shrikant Baldi (IAS), Principal Secretary Finance, Shimla, presided over the function as chief guest, who was welcomed by the School Principal Micheal A John and Director Principal Auckland House School Sunita John. Pawan Sharma, Headmaster St Xaviers School, Sanjauli, was also present to witness the active participation of the kids in the cultural variety programme. The event began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a Hymn “As We Gathered”.
The opening play was very well executed with emphasis on detail and a clear message. It was a story of a pirate Peggy who was shunted by every other pirate due to his small size but no one saw his courage and bravery. ‘Peggy the Pint Sized Pirate’, taught all that we should not belittle anyone and most important that we should stop the littering our seas and oceans. Next was an action song by the junior Choir, ‘Life is a Wonderful Thing’. The lively Goan Folk dance won huge applause from all the parents and the Piano recital by Satvik Guleri was just perfect giving a break for the school band to set up their instruments. The Auckland School Boys Band ‘Octet’ comprising of Piyush Sharma, Satvik Guleri, Aayush Goel, Farzan Hayat Khan, Aryan, and Pranav Shandil showed their skills as they beautifully sung the song ‘Hotel California’.
It was then time for a Hindi play titled ‘Beakali Ka Kaam’ — with a message how we spend time in futile activities without giving them much thought. The children tried to emphasize that we should think before taking any action and also had a hidden message of to avoid smoking. The finale was yet another spectacular performance by the boys on a Gujrati Dance ‘Dholia Dholke’.
Thereafter, the Principal presented the annual school report highlighting the activities held in the school during the current academic session. Chief Guest Dr Baldi then took the dias and appreciated and congratulated the school principal, management, faculty and the students for putting up such a great show and especially how the boys played a very convincing role dressed up as girls. He said, “I am impressed to see the use of modern techniques being adopted for enhancing teaching methods and the use of Smart Classes has definitely helped in grooming children in a better way. As children you should always set goals for yourself and aspire to achieve them and parents should support the choices made by their kids rather than pushing them in a different direction”.
The day ended on a high note with the prize distribution and jubilations all around !!!
