Hamirpur skater Samarth Atri to represent India at Asian Trophy

Young ice skater Samarth Atri from Bhoranj in Hamirpur district met CM Sukhu on Monday and sought his blessings ahead of the Asian Short Track Ice Skating Trophy 2026.

Samarth has been selected to represent India at the championship, which will be held in Dehradun from August 17 to 20, 2026.

Congratulating the young athlete, the Chief Minister wished him success and said the state government is committed to developing world-class sports infrastructure to help talented sportspersons excel at national and international levels.

Praising Samarth’s achievement, Sukhu said his selection reflects his dedication and hard work and has brought pride to Himachal Pradesh. He expressed confidence that the young skater would perform well and bring laurels to both the state and the country.

A Class X student of Auckland House School (Boys), Shimla, Samarth has been training at the Shimla Ice Skating Rink for the past six to seven years. His impressive performance at the 21st National Short Track Ice Skating Championship earned him a place in the National Training Camp, from where he secured selection to represent India at the Asian Short Track Ice Skating Trophy 2026.
