CM Sukhu today visited the historic Jakhu Temple in Shimla, offering prayers for peace and prosperity in the state and participating in the ceremonial installation of a 108-feet tall Hanuman Dhwaja (flag) within the temple premises.

Highlighting Jakhu Temple’s deep spiritual significance, the Chief Minister said it represents the collective faith of the people and noted the government’s commitment to enhancing its religious and tourism appeal. He shared that a statue of Lord Ram is also planned for the temple complex, with pending clearances under the Forest Conservation Act being addressed.

Sukhu reiterated the government’s focus on improving amenities for devotees, including enhanced parking, seating, and other basic facilities, while preserving the ecological balance.

Addressing the ongoing disaster relief efforts, the CM stated that the government is actively providing assistance to families affected by recent torrential rains across several districts, including the Seraj, Dharampur, Karsog, and Nachan constituencies. Relief camps have been set up, and rental assistance of Rs. 5,000 per month is being offered to displaced families.

He also expressed hope for central support during the upcoming visit of the Union Home Minister and emphasized that non-forest land will be allotted for rehabilitation while forest land allotments await central approval.

Later in the day, CM Sukhu inaugurated a newly constructed Public Works Department (PWD) rest house at Chhota Shimla. Built at a cost of Rs. 4.15 crore, the facility includes nine suites and is part of a broader push to make government rest houses accessible to the general public via a standardized online booking system.

Reassuring tourists, the Chief Minister clarified that while some areas have been affected by natural calamities, much of Himachal Pradesh remains safe and open for visitors. He urged people not to be misled by negative portrayals on social media.

Several dignitaries, including Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh, MLA Kamlesh Thakur, and city officials, were present at the events.
