Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal flagged off Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) Mobile Unit for Cancer Prevention Programme for rural areas supported by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN).

The Minister said that creating awareness about the symptoms along with risk factors of cancer are two pronged objectives of the mobile cancer prevention programme. He said the incidence of cancer is increasing phenomenally and early detection can save precious human lives. He said the mobile unit would organise detection camps for screening of cancer among people in the villages.

Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that the government and NGOs need to make concerted efforts in the area of cancer care management.

Chief Executive Officer of GCCI Dr. Harvinder Singh Bakshi virtually joined the occasion, where as District CMO Dr. Surekha, Senior Doctors of Health Department, representatives of GCCI and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
