You cannot help but learn more as you take the world in your hands. Take it up reverently, for it is an old piece of clay, with millions of thumbprints on it. — John Updike
The Middle Section of St Thomas School celebrated their annual function by presenting few very meaningful items, touching the hearts of parents and guests present. Chief Guest Assistant Director, Elementary Education, Ajay Sharma presided over the function, who was warmly greeted by the School Principal Vidhupriya Chakraverty as the event began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest followed by the School Report read by the Principal.
Principal Chakraverty informed all the parents and guests about the overall achievements of the students in academics, sports and cultural event held within the school as well as various competitions held in the City, State and at the National level. She said that with the guidance and support of her faculty members, lots of students had made the school proud (see video for complete report). She concluded on the note, “At this moment our thoughts of prayer and thanks go towards the Almighty for having given us the ability and the strength to carry out various challenges through commitment and dedication. Last but not the least the staff and the students of the school deserve a special mention for their consistent diligence, sincerity and devotion with which they continue to preserve zealously in achieving excellence in all aspects of learning at school”.
What followed next was a treat for the eyes as the cultural variety programme was very entertaining and each and every item was loaded with a theme. The welcome dance Abhinandan was gracefully performed by the students followed by a play titled My Gandhi. A picturesque autobiographical feature was impeccably performed by the students on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and the contributions and sacrifices made by him for our country.
The school Choir sung a melodious song Make me a Channel of your Peace, which made way to a vibrant and colouful Gujrati Dance. Another emotional and heart rendering performance was the play titled You are the Light, focusing on the importance of education and how efforts should be made especially to help and teach children working in the streets. The motto was very clear in this act ‘Each One Teach One’ and it was time for the society to play their part now. A classical song Ghar Jane De (Darbari Kangra) was beautifully sung by the students followed a Kashmiri Dance and the ever so famous Himachali Naati. The atmosphere was lightened by a humourous play titled ‘Ser Pe Sava Ser’ and the detail of the act was well appreciated by all present.
The day ended with the prize distribution by the chief guest Ajay Sharma, who congratulated all the students for the amazing performances and the themes touched by the students which had relevance to our daily lives.
