Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh today chaired the first meeting of the Special Task Force Committee, which has been constituted to address and expedite priority issues related to infrastructure projects undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) in Himachal Pradesh.

The meeting focused on the timely execution of both ongoing and upcoming national highway projects in the state. Key agenda items discussed included land acquisition, forest and environmental clearances, utility shifting, dumping sites, and dredging of the Beas River. The Minister stressed the importance of addressing these concerns in a time-bound and coordinated manner to ensure smooth implementation and reduce losses during natural disasters.

Minister Vikramaditya Singh directed all departments involved to work in close coordination with NHAI and MoRTH authorities. He emphasized the urgent resolution of all pending issues to prevent delays in critical infrastructure development.

Highlighting the significance of road infrastructure in boosting tourism, economy, and trade, the Minister reiterated the State Government’s full support for the smooth and timely execution of national highway projects. In addition, the Minister directed officials of both NHAI and MoRTH to take proactive measures to address the genuine grievances of local residents affected by highway construction and restoration activities.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including R.D. Nazeem, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport, Industries, and PWD), Ms. Rakhil Kahlon, Secretary (JSV), Engineer-in-Chief, HPPWD, Chief Engineer (NH), A.K. Kushwaha, Regional Officer, MoRTH, Col.
