A delegation from Himachal Pradesh, headed by Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, met with R. Madhu Sudan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo. The talks focused on unlocking new opportunities for the state’s youth through technical education, vocational training, skill acquisition, and employment partnerships in Japan.
Minister Dharmani emphasized the potential of pairing Himachali talent with Japan’s cutting-edge technical expertise, innovation ecosystems, and vocational training models. He underlined the necessity of scaling up capabilities in emerging technologies—particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI)—and establishing robust digital infrastructure to equip young professionals for global career paths.
Beyond skill development, the delegation discussed positioning Himachal Pradesh as a top destination for Japanese tourists. Highlighting the state’s natural beauty, adventure offerings, and deep-rooted spiritual traditions, Dharmani noted that Dharamshala—as the home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama—serves as a vital anchor for international cultural and Buddhist tourism.
The state government aims to upgrade tourism infrastructure and promote these shared cultural links to encourage more visitors from Japan, fostering stronger economic, technological, and cultural ties between the two regions.
