Himachal Hosts State-Level Road Safety Workshop

A state-level road safety workshop was organized by the Lead Agency/Road Safety Cell of the Himachal Pradesh Transport Department in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Road Safety (CoERS), IIT Madras. The event emphasized that road safety is a collective responsibility, and even small acts of caution and awareness can save lives.

Participants of various age groups were invited to create short films on road safety, with one selected film screened during the workshop. Awards were presented to 24 participants, including four winners and twenty consolation prize recipients, by Director Transport Neeraj Kumar, who lauded their efforts.

The IIT Madras team shared insights on road safety strategies, particularly for hilly regions, and discussed innovative frameworks and the draft vision for road safety in Himachal Pradesh. Certificates were distributed to all participants at the conclusion of the event.

The workshop was attended by Additional Transport Commissioner S.D. Negi, Prof. Venkatesh Balasubramaniam of CoERS IIT Madras, officials from the Transport Department, and representatives from other state departments.
