CM Sukhu invited investors to Himachal Pradesh, describing the state as an emerging investment destination with strong potential in industries, IT and green energy.
Addressing the Chandigarh Leadership Conclave and the 23rd Annual General Meeting of TiE Chandigarh, the Chief Minister said the state government was working on a new industrial policy that would provide investors with better incentives, including reduced electricity tariffs and reliable power supply.
Highlighting Himachal’s clean energy potential, he said the state aims to become a leading hub for green hydrogen production. BioChar plants are being established across the state, while a geothermal energy project has already been set up in Kinnaur. He also announced that Himachal would sign a three-year Power Purchase Agreement with Punjab for electricity supply, strengthening the bond between the two states.
The Chief Minister said Himachal offers a favourable environment for the IT sector and is developing data storage facilities along with an IT Park at Kandaghat in Solan district. He added that policies are being revised to promote industrial growth while considering the state’s geographical challenges.
Speaking about connectivity, he said the Chandigarh-Baddi railway project is progressing, with the state sharing 50 percent of the expenditure on land acquisition and construction. The project is expected to boost industries in Baddi and Nalagarh. Expansion of Kangra Airport and development of heliports across the state are also underway to improve tourism and investment prospects.
On climate concerns, the Chief Minister said Himachal remains safe for tourists during monsoons, while urging visitors to avoid vulnerable areas near rivers and streams. He added that the government is working to secure the state’s 7.19 percent share in Chandigarh.
Reiterating his government’s vision of a self-reliant Himachal, Sukhu said priority areas include healthcare, education, tourism, rural economy and IT. Efforts are also being made to strengthen medical services and promote health tourism in the state.
