The Himachal Pradesh government is working to give national and international recognition to unique district products and strengthen rural livelihoods through its One District Three Product (ODtP) Programme. The initiative aims to promote local heritage, create market opportunities and boost the rural economy across the state.
Under the programme, 36 products—three from each district—have been identified after assessing their economic potential, market demand and regional importance. These include products such as Kangra Tea, Kinnauri Shawls, Kullu Cap, Chamba Chappal, Himachali Chulli Oil, Seabuckthorn, Apple-based products, local honey, mushrooms, tomato products, dragon fruit and other traditional and agricultural items.
To strengthen entrepreneurship and market access, the state government has already organised three Vendor Development Programmes and five Employment Development Programmes to connect local producers with buyers, industries and business opportunities.
As the next major step, a grand exhibition of ODtP products along with a Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet will be organised in October 2026. The event will bring together producers, exporters, investors, retailers and industry representatives to develop partnerships, expand markets and create stronger business linkages for Himachal’s district products.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the upcoming industrial policy would provide special incentives to enterprises involved in ODtP products. These benefits will include land rebates, stamp duty concessions, subsidised electricity, SGST reimbursement and priority sector status to encourage investment in processing, branding and value addition.
The Chief Minister said the government would also focus on promoting branding and marketing of local products by helping producers access major e-commerce platforms and participate in trade fairs, exhibitions and buyer-seller interactions.
He said the ODtP initiative would preserve Himachal Pradesh’s traditional skills and cultural identity while generating employment, increasing rural incomes and creating new economic opportunities for youth, women and local entrepreneurs.
