Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Announces Key Decisions

Filling Vacant Teaching Posts in Elementary Education Department:

In a bid to ensure quality education and address the shortage of teaching staff, the Cabinet approved the filling of 5291 vacant posts in the elementary education department. These include positions for TGT (Arts), TGT (Non-Medical), TGT (Medical), Shastri, and JBT teachers.

Creation of Medical Officer (Dental) Posts in Health Services: (Himachal Pradesh Cabinet)

To strengthen dental health services, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation of 28 posts of Medical Officers (Dental). In cases where any Civil Hospital or CHC lacks this position, it will be established and filled. Recruitment in Industries Department and Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs: The Cabinet approved the filling of four Surveyor posts in the Industries Department and two District Controller Food positions in the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs department.

Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding Schools for Quality Education:

In an effort to provide quality education to children, the Cabinet decided to establish Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding Schools in each assembly segment of the state. Thirteen sites have been identified for construction, and these schools will feature modern facilities such as Hi-tech Smart Class Rooms and play fields.

Launching of Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Yojna-2023 for Self-Employment:

The Cabinet gave the green light to the “Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Yojna-2023,” aimed at promoting self-employment opportunities and encouraging entrepreneurship among local youth. The scheme encompasses e-taxis, e-trucks, e-buses, dental facilities, and fishery activities. Amendment to H.P. Town and Country Planning Rules: In a move to make the Attic floor habitable, the Cabinet decided to amend Rule-16 of H.P. Town and Country Planning Rules, 2014.

Revenue Enhancement and Capacity Augmentation Project Approved:

To enhance revenue generation, the Cabinet sanctioned a project for Revenue Enhancement and Capacity Augmentation. The State Taxes and Excise Department will have real-time access to data on GST defaulters, enabling prompt action and increased revenue collection.

Relief for Passengers and Goods Tax Defaulters:

The Cabinet approved the waiver of penalties and interest on Goods Tax of Passengers and Goods Tax (PGT) until 30th June 2023. This one-time relief aims to realize the principal amount of PGT from Goods Carriers in Himachal Pradesh, facilitating the implementation of Special Road Tax instead of PGT.

Land Transfer for B.G. Nangal Dam to Talwara Railway Line:

In a crucial decision, the Cabinet agreed to transfer government land in the name of the Railway Department for the construction of the B.G. Nangal Dam to Talwara Railway line.

Development Plans Approved for Hatkoti Special Area and Mehatpur Planning Area:

The Cabinet granted approval for the Draft Development Plan for Hatkoti Special Area in Shimla district and the Draft Development Plan for Mehatpur Planning Area in Una district.

Transfer of Gram Panchayats for Improved Water Management:

To facilitate improved water management, the Cabinet decided to transfer eight Gram Panchayats from Jal Shakti Division Matiyana to Jal Shakti Division No. 1 Kasumpti in the Shimla district.
