Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Championship 2024: Registration Open

All preparations for the state level Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Championship 2024 have been completed. Interested players can register online till November 5. Ripudaman Kaushik, General Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics, said that in this two-day state level competition, players will show their strength in 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and 5000 meter walking race, as well as long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot-put, discus and javelin throw etc. About 600 athletes will participate in the competition. The winner of this championship will lead Himachal in the 45th National Masters Athletics Championship in March 2025. This championship is being organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

The main attraction of this year’s competition will be the Open Cross Country, which will be organized in Bilaspur on November 9. In this cross country, players from any state of the country can participate in 3 km and 5 km races. Competitors can participate in a total of 6 age groups: Junior (12-18), Senior (19-30) and Masters (31-42, 43-55, 56-65, 65+).
The newly elected head of the State Masters Athletics, Rajkumar Rana, said that a special initiative has been taken in Himachal to honour the national game hockey, an attractive competition is being organised in support of Indian women’s hockey. In this competition, a platform is being provided to the women players of the state who have contributed to Hockey Himachal. In this special match, women masters players will display their skills and strength.

Players from any district of Himachal Pradesh can participate in the Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Competition. Participants can contact the officials of their district association for more information.

A three-member committee has been formed for organizing the state-level championship. Suresh Nadda, Ranjeet Singh Chanana and Nitin Dogra will look after the arrangements for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Competition. Players can register online from October 1. Brij Lal Thakur, Ashwini Sharma and Dwarka Thakur will look after the arrangements of the sports committee. Vijay Kumar has been given the charge of technical and dispute committee. Pawan Verma and Sanjay Saklani have been appointed for media and publicity. Dr. Sushil Sharma will provide health services and first-aid. Kalpana Parmar and Champa Thakur will look after the arrangements for women’s competitions. The charge of registration and entry has been given to treasurer Somesh Sharma and Swastik.

Ripudaman Kaushik said that “Masters Athletics” was originally the resolution of Milkha Singh, also known as ‘Flying Sikh’. ‘Flying Sikh’ founded Masters Athletics, then called ‘All India Veteran Athletics’ in 1978 and in 1980 it was given a concrete shape in Chandigarh.

At present, Masters Athletics Federation of India – Himachal Pradesh is providing a platform to players from 30 to 100+ years of age, so that masters players from every region of the state can get an opportunity to showcase their talent at national and international level.

Masters Athletics Federation of India – Himachal Pradesh is the only federation registered. Masters Athletics Federation of India is recognized by “World Masters Athletics” (WMA) and Asian Masters Athletics (AMA) and is bound by the rules of “International Olympic Council” and follows them with the help of its officials, athletes and functionaries to maintain the “highest spirit of sports”. Masters Athletics Federation of India plays a vital role in protecting the spirit and integrity of sports through efforts of Anti-Naxalism, Anti-Doping program, Anti-Doping campaign works towards eliminating doping/drugs from our lifestyle and focuses on promoting health and longevity among all athletes and associates.
