Himachal Pradesh To Implement Hospital Management Information System

The State government was implementing Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) in 53 health institutions including super specialty hospitals, all medical colleges, regional hospitals, in which complete data of patients will be available on a single platform. This was stated by Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over a meeting of the Health Department here today.

He directed to start HMIS in Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla by 30th August, 2023 and informed that a target has been set to start this facility in other health institutions of the states by 30th September, 2023. This will assist in compiling complete data of the patients and doctors. The general and emergency registration, of patients, the lab reports, records of the operation theater along with the complete data of their discharge and transfer would be available online.

The doctors would also be able to write e-prescription and see the complete medical history of the patients as well. The present state government is making earnest efforts to strengthen the health services in the state and this move will prove to be a milestone in this direction said the Chief Minister. He said that the State Government was also working on providing state-of-the-art infrastructure in all the health institutions besides providing technology like robotic surgery.

The development of health institutions and facilities should be in accordance with the challenges of the future. While directing to increase the number of private rooms proportionate to the needs of the future in new health institutions to come up. He also reviewed all the works related to medical colleges under construction and gave instructions to complete the works soon. Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sanjay Awasthi, Advisor (Infrastructure) Anil Kapil, Secretary Health, M. Sudha Devi, Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vivek Bhatia, OSD to Chief Minister, Gopal Sharma, Mission Director National Health Mission, Sudesh Mokhta, Special Secretary, Ashwani Sharma and other senior officers were present.
