In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has launched a new initiative to foster cultural and linguistic inclusion in schools. Starting this month, teachers across the state will engage with students in their respective local dialects for 30 minutes on the last Saturday of every month—observed as ‘Bag-Free Day’ as per the Annual Academic Calendar.
This step aims to strengthen cultural identity, promote regional languages, and enhance communication between students and teachers, especially benefiting those who speak local dialects at home. All Deputy Directors have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of this directive across elementary and secondary schools.
The Directorate has further directed that all school heads be informed and compliance reports submitted accordingly.
