The Himachal Pradesh government has approved the implementation of the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for the procurement of processing-grade mangoes, citrus fruits and C-grade apples during 2026 to ensure assured prices and market support for fruit growers. Procurement will be carried out through the Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC), while HIMFED may also be associated for apple procurement if required.

Under the scheme, processing-grade seedling, grafted and unripe Achari mangoes will be procured at Rs. 12 per kg from July 15 to August 31, 2026, with 42 procurement centres to be opened across the state.

Processing-grade Kinnow, Malta and Sangtra will also be purchased at Rs. 12 per kg, while Galgal will be procured at Rs. 10 per kg from November 21, 2026, to February 15, 2027.

The government has also approved the procurement of up to 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of C-grade apples at Rs. 12 per kg between August 1 and October 31, 2026. Only apples with a diameter above 51 mm and meeting prescribed quality standards will be accepted. Rotten, windfallen, bird-damaged, insect-infested, diseased, shrivelled or ethephon-treated apples will not be eligible under the scheme.

The spokesperson said only farmers registered on the HPMC MIS Portal will be eligible to sell their produce. Growers must bring fruits that meet quality specifications and provide an additional 2.5 percent by weight to offset handling and storage losses.

The Horticulture Department has urged eligible growers to complete their registration in time and contact the nearest horticulture office or designated procurement centre for assistance.
