The consignment received a warm welcome in Oman, where the Embassy of India in Muscat launched a promotional campaign showcasing the premium-quality fruits. Attractive in-store displays at retail outlets generated encouraging responses from consumers, highlighting the growing international appeal of Himachal’s produce.
CM Sukhu congratulated the Department of Horticulture and the state’s fruit growers on the milestone, describing it as a significant achievement that would create new opportunities for farmers and horticulturists by providing access to high-value international markets. He said the successful export reflects the quality of Himachal’s naturally grown fruits and the collective efforts of growers and the horticulture department.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the horticulture sector, the Chief Minister said several initiatives are being implemented to promote premium-quality fruit production, improve post-harvest infrastructure, enhance marketing support, and facilitate exports. He urged growers to adopt scientific cultivation practices, quality planting material, and better grading standards to further strengthen the state’s presence in global markets.
The export was facilitated by the Department of Horticulture with support from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Regional Office, Chandigarh. APEDA coordinated with farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, exporters, HPMC, state departments, and logistics partners to ensure compliance with international quality, packaging, grading, and phytosanitary standards.
The successful shipment to Oman is expected to pave the way for Himachal Pradesh’s fruits to enter more international markets, offering better prices and improved income prospects for the state’s horticulturists.
