Hindi Poetry Competition Organized by SJVN at St Thomas School

Students of St Thomas School participated in an educating as well as enlightening session as well as a competition on Hindi Poetry and general Power Quiz, organized by the members of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, Shimla, in the school premises here today. The chief guest for the occasion was Sanjay Sood, DGM, F&A, and special invitee Mridula Shrivastava, Deputy Manager, Raj Bhasha Dept, SJVN. The motive behind organizing such competitions in various schools is to promote Hindi as a language as well as a sense of competitiveness and mental reasoning among children. Hindi poetry is usually considered tough by kids and by promoting it SJVN organizers are trying to interest the kids in our national language – Hindi.

St-Thomas1Students from Classes IX to XII enthusiastically participated in this event and winners were awarded prizes. Another interesting part of the event was the ‘Power Quiz’ in which quite a few students as well as teachers won gifts. Principal Vidupriya Charkarvarty informed that by organizing such events we try to interest the children in different subjects and this was a nice way of learning about Hindi poetry as well as about the power sector.
