CM Sukhu virtually laid the foundation stone for a ₹2.85-crore complete overhaul of Sahakar Sadan, the historic Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank building situated on Shimla’s iconic Mall Road. Spanning from Mall Road down to Lower Bazaar Road, the multi-storey structure is set for a total transformation aimed at breathing new life into the old property while bringing it up to modern architectural standards.
Emphasizing the financial institution’s vital presence in the region, the Chief Minister underscored that the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank remains a cornerstone of the state’s banking sector. He noted that upgrading aging facilities like Sahakar Sadan forms a core part of the bank’s broader strategy to deliver modern, reliable, and efficient services to its patrons across Himachal Pradesh.
The extensive redesign will systematically reimagine every level of the facility to meet contemporary requirements, with target completion set for June 15, 2027. Under the blueprint, the ground floor will welcome visitors with an upgraded reception and an advanced screening area, while the mezzanine floor above will house modernized workstations and cabin partitions.
The lower levels are also tailored for practical, multi-purpose utility. Basement-1 will feature a fully developed conference hall alongside additional workspaces, Basement-2 will introduce a dedicated on-site crèche for children, and Basement-3 will be outfitted with modern infrastructure and well-organized storage areas to streamline overall operations.
