Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, officially unveiled the Hockey Men’s Asia Cup 2025 Trophy on Monday, launching the countdown to the prestigious tournament’s 12th edition. Scheduled from August 29 to September 7, the event will be held at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar — marking a historic first for the state.
The unveiling ceremony saw the presence of legendary Indian hockey players including Harbinder Singh (three-time Olympic medalist), Ashok Dhyanchand (1972 Olympic bronze medalist), and Zafar Iqbal (1980 Olympic gold medalist), alongside state officials and representatives from Hockey India.
This edition is particularly significant as it not only enhances Bihar’s profile in the international sports arena but also serves as a direct qualifier for the 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Asia Cup winner will earn an automatic spot in the World Cup, while teams placing second to sixth will compete in the subsequent qualification rounds.
India, as host and three-time champion, eyes a historic fourth title on home soil.
