Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Sunday reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal on fuel conservation and urged citizens to actively adopt fuel-saving practices in their daily lives.

Speaking at a Club Leadership Learning Seminar organised by Rotary District 3070, the Governor said fuel conservation is not just an economic need but a national responsibility linked to reducing import dependence and carbon emissions.

He encouraged people to prefer public transport, minimise the use of private vehicles, switch off engines at traffic signals, and adopt carpooling as a regular habit. He also called upon Rotary Clubs to spread awareness on energy conservation as part of their community service initiatives.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, Gupta said collective civic responsibility and small individual actions can together bring significant change in the country’s energy security and environmental sustainability.

He added that organisations like Rotary act as a bridge between society and administration, and their work in sectors such as education, healthcare, environment, water conservation, women empowerment, and disaster relief is highly commendable.

The Governor also highlighted growing social challenges such as drug abuse, environmental imbalance, mental stress, and youth disconnect, stressing that government efforts alone are not enough and public participation is essential.

Calling on the youth, he said leadership is not just about personal success but about contributing to nation-building through responsible and innovative action.
