The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur, has approved key reforms aimed at improving academic administration, student welfare, and campus development, including changes in its examination and governance systems.

A decision was taken to reconstitute the System Committee to enhance efficiency, transparency, and credibility in the university’s entrance examination process. The Academic Council will also be reorganized, with necessary amendments proposed to improve its functioning.

To strengthen institutional integrity, it was decided that staff posted in the Confidential Branch and other sensitive sections will generally be transferred after completing a tenure of one to two years.

The decisions were taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abhishek Jain, who said the university is working in line with the vision of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani to align education standards with global benchmarks.

As part of student-focused initiatives, a Competitive Examination Cell will be established to provide guidance, counselling, and mentoring for students preparing for various competitive exams.

To promote a healthy campus environment and address substance abuse concerns, the university will conduct a 30-minute Anti-Drug Awareness Session on the first Monday of every month for students and staff.

The Vice-Chancellor also directed the formation of a General Grievance Redressal Committee and a Gender Sensitization and Counselling Cell to strengthen student support systems and ensure a safe and inclusive campus atmosphere.

He further instructed officials to submit detailed reports on pending matters with the Government of India and issues awaiting state government approvals.

Discussions were also held on student-centric infrastructure improvements, including transport facilities via HRTC, sports infrastructure, library upgrades, laboratory equipment procurement, rain shelter construction, and increasing green cover on campus.
