To make commuting easier for students of convent and private schools in Shimla Town, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has included Chartered school bus passes under the HIM BUS PASS Scheme starting from the 2026 academic session.

Parents can now apply online for Chartered school bus passes through the dedicated portal: buspassonline.hrtchp.com. The portal allows parents to:

  • Select the school and bus service/route.

  • Choose the boarding point.

  • Automatically calculate the quarterly pass fare based on distance from the school.

After submitting the online application, parents must download the form, get it verified by the respective school authority, upload the countersigned form on the portal, and pay the applicable quarterly bus fare. Once approved, passes can be collected from the HRTC Convent/Private School Special Bus Pass Counter at the Old Bus Stand, Shimla. Applicants will be notified via SMS or email when the pass is ready.

For assistance or queries related to convent/private school bus passes, HRTC has provided a toll-free number: 1800-203-3350.

HRTC also informed that over 1.30 lakh HIM BUS Passes have been issued across the state so far. To address previous delays in printing, additional card printing machines have been deployed at the Old Bus Stand and Head Office in Shimla to ensure smooth service for the public.
