While presiding over the Inauguration Ceremony of 2022 batch of Indian Audit & Accounts Services (IA&AS) at National Academy of Audit & Accounts, Chaura Maidan, Shimla on Monday, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that before taking up any profession, only by becoming a good human being, we could provide our best services to the society, the nation and especially the weakest section of the society. Emphasizing the importance of team spirit, the Governor said, “We can play an effective role by being in a team. Therefore, by letting go of the sense of ‘I’, we need to harness the power of association and I have to be a part of it as teamwork delivers better”. While congratulating the IA&AS trainees, the Governor called upon to work with the spirit of lifelong learning. He said that they have got this opportunity by the grace of God and by realizing this responsibility, work for the weaker sections of the society. He said that during their training program they should also focus on making themselves a good human being as only a good human being could provide good services. Arlekar said that the Prime Minister expresses his commitment only on the basis of the youth power of the country.
In the Amrit Kaal, there was a need for the skilled young generation to make an important contribution in the development of the nation, he added. He said that the trainee officers have immensely contributed to the governance and nation building through their sincere dedication and commitment to public service. The officers occupy senior positions in a very important institution of our democracy so they keep a close watch on executive actions primarily in raising revenues and spending them as mandated by the legislature. He said that they have an opportunity to experience Himachal Pradesh in a unique manner. The Governor also launched the digital library of the Academy on the occasion. On the occasion, the IA&AS trainees introduced themselves to the Governor and informed about their objective of joining the services. Manish Kumar, Director General of the National Academy of Audit & Accounts Shimla welcomed the Governor on the occasion and briefed about the two year training programme for the new batch of 2022. He also underlined important aspects of their training programme including leadership quality, Innovative ideas and good human being. He said that this batch has four international participants, two from Bhutan and two from Maldives.
This Academy has Bhutanese participants for many years now, but this was the first time two officers from the Auditor General of Maldives joined this prestigious course, he added. Earlier, Radhika Suri of 2021 Batch welcomed the new trainee officers. Naveen Singhvi, Director, Administration proposed a vote of thanks. Sushil Kumar, Principal Accountant General, senior officers of the Central and State Governments, faculty members of the Academy, officer trainees of IA&AS 2021 and 2022 batches, families and staff of the Academy and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
