ywca.ind.15.8 (2)69th Independence Day celebrations were held on 15th August 2015 at 02:00 pm at the YWCA of Simla. The celebration started with a plantation drive initiated by the students and members of YWCA of Simla. The programme started with a welcome note by the General Secretary, YWCA of Simla, followed by a speech by Amanpreet, a student. A message on this occasion was also delivered by Satyawan Pundir, Secretary, Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti. He stressed on how casteism, communalism, discrimination on social and economic basis, etc. are obstacles in our way forward and that our country can progress if we all share the same vision i.e. to eliminate such obstacles.

ywca.ind.15.8 (3)The programme included some brilliant dance and music performances such as a welcome tune  on casio, group songs ‘Ae Mere Watan ke logo’, ‘Chodo kal Ki Baate’, ‘Swadesh’ and Lukka Chuppi; group dance on ‘Boliyan’ and ‘India Wale’ and, ‘Sare Jahan Se Acha’ tune on casio among other entertaining programmes by the students of vocational and hobby classes of YWCA of Simla and a play on the theme ‘Be a Green Ambassador”.  The programme concluded with the National Anthem sung by all.
