The Technology Development Board has partnered with Scharge Pvt Limited, along with UK-based Albright Product Design Limited, under the India–UK Collaborative R&D Programme to develop improved electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions.

The project aims to build a next-generation EV charging system specially designed for commercial fleets and depot use. It combines a smart charger controller with an automated, motorised overhead cable management system, which reduces manual effort, prevents cable damage, and makes charging faster and more efficient.

This innovation is expected to improve safety, streamline operations, and create more organized charging infrastructure. It will also help strengthen India’s capabilities in EV technology while supporting the rapid growth of electric mobility across the country.
