The nine-day World Book Fair commenced today at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, where the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, has set up an exhibition of its publications, continuing its annual tradition. On the inaugural day, the Institute launched six new publications and hosted discussions on two books.


Book Launch by IIAS
Six books were officially launched, contributing to advanced research in various fields. Among these:
- जीवन का तट: उत्तर भारत की नदियां और निषाद जीवन (Editor: Dr. Ramashankar)
- १९वीं सदी के गुजराती और हिंदी साहित्य में भारतीय चेतना (Author: Professor Alok Kumar Gupta)
- Study in the Phenomenon of Monasticism in Buddhist and Christianity (Author: Professor G.C. Tripathi)
- Significance of Optimality Theory in Phonological Questions and Assessment and Intervention of Phonological Disorder (Author: Dr. Lalita Raja)
- Knowledge and Subject: Situating Ayurveda Theory Life Narratives of Practitioners (Author: Dr. Girija K.P.)
- 75 Years of Indian Economy and Polity: A Way Forward in Amrit Kaal (Editor: Dr. Priyesh C.A.)
Research Contributions

- Three books are based on research projects by former fellows of IIAS.
- Two books compile research papers presented at national seminars hosted by the Institute.

Following the launch, a discussion session was held, led by Dr. Pankaj Singh, focusing on:
- “Understanding Punjab: A Geo-Cultural Civilizational and Literary Context” by Professor Ravinder Singh
- “जीवन का तट: उत्तर भारत की नदियां एवं निषाद जीवन” edited by Dr. Ramashankar

The event was presided over by Professor Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, and Director of IIAS, Shimla. He congratulated the authors and editors, emphasizing that these publications will serve as milestones in advanced research.
