The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), has formally executed a financial agreement worth ₹130 crore with M/s BigEndian Semiconductors, Bengaluru. The support, extended under the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund, finances half of the total ₹260 crore cost for ‘Project VeerAI’.

Project VeerAI aims to advance an indigenous AI Vision System-on-Chip (SoC) from TRL-5 to TRL-9, creating a secure, application-specific platform initially targeted at CCTV and surveillance systems. The solution addresses critical data privacy, security, and hardware sovereignty requirements for India and the Global South, with future roadmap expansions into automotive, medical, industrial, and defense domain requirements.

By backing this targeted initiative, TDB continues its strategic push to convert domestic semiconductor design proficiency into market-ready, scalable products that protect vital national infrastructure.
