Two days program to celebrate National science day on the theme-Global Science for Global well-being was organized by St Bedes College in collaboration with The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA )Shimla Chapter and IAPT on 28th February and 1st March.DrSapna Sharma, Officiating Principal St Bedes Collegeand Dr. Sharamja Munjal welcomed the guests.
On first day a talk on”Star Performer of Big Science-Cyclotron was delivered by Prof. P. K. Ahluwalia, President IAPT as Chief Guest. A movie on Cyclotron dedicated to the memory of Late Prof, H. S Hans PU Chandigarh under-Discoveries in Science and Sustainable Development was screened and on-spot quiz on movie was conducted thereof. Prof. S. S,. Kanwar, Deptt of Biotechnology HPU Shimla on Microplastics and Prof. (Mrs.) Neeraj Sharma, Convener ISCA Shimla Chapter on “Profile of ISCA and Highlights of activities by ISCA Shimla chapter in promoting Scientific Temperament among students and masses”delivered talks on second day.
Dr. Arun Kumar, Govt. Degree College Bilaspur and Dr. Hemant Kumar, Secretary, IAPT and Principal, Govt. College Sarahan(Sirmour) conducted live demonstration sessions. An Inter-College quiz competition was conducted in which students from six colleges participated.
In the valedictory session ProfJyoti Prakash Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor as Chief Guest emphasized on the use of scientific developments for the well-being of society. and gave prizes and certificates to winners of quiz competition 1st, 2ndand 3rd positions were secured by Sadhna and Archana Malik from St Bedes College;Vaibhav Rana and Sarthak Sharma from Shoolini University;Priti Sharma and Geetanjali from RKMV. Prof. Khem Chand, Dean College Development Council, HPU Shri K. K. Sharma and whole science faculty were present on the occasion. The program was a grand success attended by about, 250 students.
