PM SHRI School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Theog, Shimla, hosted an insightful guest lecture on 19 November 2025 for students of Classes 10 to 12. The session was conducted by Dr. Purnima Chauhan, IAS (Retd.), a distinguished officer known for her exemplary leadership and service in public administration.
Dr. Chauhan addressed students on several motivating themes such as career planning, leadership, personality development, integrity, and discipline. Drawing from her rich administrative experience, she urged students to nurture curiosity, resilience, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
A significant portion of the session focused on the UPSC Civil Services Examination, where she guided young aspirants on early preparation strategies. She emphasized building strong fundamentals, maintaining disciplined study habits, reading consistently, and developing analytical and communication skills. Dr. Chauhan encouraged students to set long-term goals and work steadily towards them.
Sharing memorable experiences from her career, she spoke about handling emergencies, managing public expectations, and making impactful decisions. She also narrated inspiring incidents where timely administrative action brought about meaningful change in people’s lives, giving students a deeper understanding of the purpose and impact of the IAS.
The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to ask thoughtful questions, reflecting their enthusiasm and curiosity. Dr. Chauhan motivated them to dream big, stay focused, and contribute positively to society.
