Agriculture Minister, Prof. Chander Kumar and Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Kishori Lal has strongly ridiculed the statement of former Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur in which he has accused the present Government for discrimination of Kangra district. Both the leaders said that proper representation have given to Kangra by the present government headed by Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. “We both belong to Kangra district and the Chief Minister himself has deep-rooted relations and a strong bond with the people of Kangra”, they asserted. The Government was working with commitment to ensure uniform development of the entire state. The Government mulls to make Kangra district as the ‘Tourism Capital’ of the State and a blueprint is being prepared for the same. Besides promoting adventure tourism at Pong Dam in the district, a Zoo of International standard will soon be coming up at Dehra and ‘Narghota’ village near Dharamshala would be developed as a tourism village and the government was also keen to develop ‘Tent City’ at the base of Dhauladhar ranges with 200 luxurious encampments. The duo said that the state government was making earnest efforts to implement many such projects in near future in the district, and advised the BJP leaders to wait and watch and not loose their temperament.
Chander Kumar and Kishori Lal said that the statement of former Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, that the Congress government will not be able to run the State and would collapse within a year is made to be in limelight and shows his desperation besides signifying that the BJP has not yet been able to accept the mandate and able to digest their defeat. The present government under the leadership of Chief Minister would complete its full tenure and the attempts of BJP’s to destabilize the government will not go down well, except a futile exercise. He said that during the last six months of its tenure, the former BJP government had opened and upgraded more than 900 institutions without budget provision, which would have required Rs 5000 crore every year to run them. The Minister said that the present government is implementing schemes only after making provision in the budget. They said that the former BJP government had spent lavishly. The Ministers of BJP remained confined to enjoying power. The condition of roads was worst during their tenure as the former Chief Minister was addressed by the people as “Helicopter Wala Mukhyamantri, they quipped.
