Creativity, originality and imagination at its peak!!! As one entered the exhibition hall of Auckland House School, Shimla, one was immediately greeted by students of junior classes comprising Form Nursery up to Class Second who had showcased their raw talent. The ingenuity with which these children had worked to put up a class show speaks volumes of their creativity and expression.
A word of appreciation is must for all the teachers who put in lots of time, patience and hard work by encouraging children to create such beautiful paintings and models. “Educationists should build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role model”, as stated by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, and holds true for this School!!!
This Arts & Crafts Exhibition was inaugurated by Sister Shyma Jose, Principal, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Chelsea, Shimla. A walk around the hall took you from colourful collages by nursery class students to crafts such as paper school busses and dancing dolls; multihued huts, rowing boats, merry go round, girls dresses and much more as well as some very innovating drawings by children using pencil shavings, rice bran pasting, sandpaper drawings, novel artwork and paintings and scrap books.
Apart from general ideas, specific concepts such as safety rules, healthy habits, tools used in our daily lives, types of houses and our cultural heritage were too portrayed through this craftwork. Students of Second class very diligently explained their ideas as parents listened carefully what was being explained. When learning becomes fun and ideas are represented graphically rather than being taught through textbooks, children learn the skills which takes them a long way in life.
