Students of class nursery up to third celebrated their Annual Sports Day with much fanfare and enthusiasm. Principal and DAV Regional Director, Zone II, Shashi Kiran presided over the function as the chief guest as the school staff warmly greeted her. The event began with a prayer as children performed on the song “Teri Hai Zameen, Tera Hai Asmaan”, following which students of class three beautifully sung the song “Hum Sab Bhartiya Hai”. A much awaited event of the year as students gave their best performances trying to win medals and prizes.
The first event was the Colour Concept in which students of nursery participated. Winners of this competition were: 1st Divansh Dogra, 2nd Yunik and 3rd Anik. Girls of nursery class participated in the Walking Race in which winners were as follows: 1st Arpita, 2nd Anshika and 3rd Suhani.
In Musical Chairs, boys of kindergarden section showcased their skills as 1st position went to Mohammed Sami, 2nd was Prabhnoor Singh and 3rd was Ashil Sharma. Among girls the results were as follows: 1st Vaishnavi Rathore, 2nd Bhavya and 3rd Vaidehi.
Boys from first class participated in the Balloon Race and the winners were: 1st Himanya Grover, 2nd Prithvi Chauhan and 3rd Samaksh, while girls who won this race were: 1st Muskaan Verma, 2nd Vidhusi Soyaal and 3rd Palak Thakur.
Students from class two gave some exciting performances all the way as they participated in the Button the Shirt Race. Among boys the winners were as follows: 1st Prabhav Gupta, 2nd Siddharth, 3rd Manish who gave their best as they buttoned their shirts and reached the finish line. In girls the competition too was very exciting as they participated in the Balancing Race. The first prize was bagged by Rishita Verma, 2nd Ananya Thakur and 3rd Saavya Diwan.
Tying the Shoe Lace was another thrilling race in which students of class three participated with great enthusiasm. The winners in this race were as follows: 1st Harsh Chandel, 2nd Gurutam and 3rd Shaurya. Girls were given the task of pealing 10 pea pods in which Jeevan Chauhan was adjudged 1st, 2nd was Arpita Sood and 3rd was Charvi Sharma.
Being active participants while enjoying an entertaining performance by their kids, parents also tried their luck at the finish line. In Musical Chairs 1st prize was won by Rajeev Gupta, 2nd was Yograj and the 2rd prize was awarded to Chetan Diwan.
Principal Kiran gave prizes to all the winners and congratulated them on their splendid performances. She said, “Sports and physical activities are equally important as studies for the all round development of children. By participating in such competitive events children develop strong mental and physical strength”. She further added that parents should spend more time with their kids and enjoy certain activities together to build deeper stronger relationships.
