In a significant reshuffle of gubernatorial posts across India, the Centre has appointed Kavinder Gupta, the current Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, as the new Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
According to an official notification, the incumbent Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, has been transferred and appointed as the Governor of Telangana. These changes form part of a broader reshuffle of gubernatorial positions affecting multiple states and Union Territories.
Under the new appointments, former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been designated as the Governor of Delhi. Meanwhile, the current Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V. K. Saxena, will take over as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
In another development, Jishnu Dev Varma, who is presently serving as the Governor of Telangana, has been appointed the Governor of Maharashtra. Senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav has been named the Governor of Nagaland.
Additionally, retired Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar.
Elsewhere, R. N. Ravi, the current Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been assigned the role of Governor of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the Governor of Kerala, will hold additional charge as the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
The appointments will take effect once the respective officials formally assume office. The reshuffle is being viewed as a notable administrative move by the Centre involving several strategically important states and Union Territories.
