Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the foundation stones for a new Indoor Stadium and a Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Bhanjraru in Chamba district during his visit to Himachal Pradesh.
The projects, part of the Prime Minister’s Jan Vikas Karyakram, are estimated to cost Rs 7 crore for the stadium and Rs 9 crore for the ITI building.
Speaking to a public gathering, Rijiju emphasized the importance of visiting hilly and remote regions to understand local challenges and ensure development plans are tailored to community needs. He highlighted that direct engagement with residents allows policymakers to design initiatives that address real issues effectively.
The Minister also underscored the ongoing infrastructure expansion led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including improved road connectivity under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. He added that the Central Government is focused on enhancing education, healthcare, and other critical services to ensure balanced regional growth.
Rijiju further spoke about the proposed Chahni Tunnel in Pangi, which aims to improve access in tribal areas and integrate them with mainstream development. He noted that better connectivity would help ensure government schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries.
Later in the day, the Minister also laid the foundation for another Indoor Stadium at Salooni, highlighting the government’s continued commitment to boosting infrastructure in remote parts of the state.
