A vibrant and sparkling Fancy Dress Competition for school children of Shimla based on the theme “Sri Krishan Janamashtami” was organized by the Sanatan Dharam Sabha to mark the birth and celebration of Sri Krishna Janman, at the S.D. Public School, Ganj Bazar . Children from various schools namely, St. Edwards, Auckland House, Seplings, Convent of Jesus and Mary, DAV Lakkar Bazar, Chapslee and few others were a part of this event. Dressed in different mythological characters children gave energetic performances as each stepped on to the stage. The chief guest for the evening was MLA Suresh Bhardwaj.
Children won the hearts of the audience as well as the chief guest by enacting various roles of Sri Krishna from his childhood as Nathkhat Bansi and Makhan Chor while speaking chaste Hindi dialogues and performing dancing acts as Radha. The children mesmerized the audiences by presenting a colourful cultural programme. The hard work and the patience with which the children performed was very much evident as were the efforts and perseverance of the parents.
The judges for the evening were Professor Kamal, Vikram Bhagra, Kamal Sharma, O.P. Puri and Brijmohan Sharma. The competition was held in two groups: Group A children were of ages 2 to 4 years and in Group B children comprised of ages 4 to 7 years. The winners of Group A were Aryan Sharma, Anshika Chauhan and Sidhant Gupta and the winners of Group B were Shruti Sharma, Simranpreet Kaur and Kriaya Taneja. Ajay Sood, President Sanatan Dharam said that the main motive for conducting such events was to bring awareness among the children about our traditional customs and learn about the rich Indian heritage.
Tiny tots captivated the audience with some scintillating performances which comprised of parents and grandparents clapping excitedly encouraging their wards while enjoying the show.
