shem3Cake, balloons and a MAGIC SHOW is the best way to celebrate your birthday, and most of all when your very own school organizes a party for you. Every month on second Wednesdays, SHEMROCK Smart Kids organizes “Party Party”, in which kids whose birthdays fall on the same month are celebrated together. This month a special treat was a magic show by the renowned magician H.G. Ley, organized by the Director Sheetaljeet Kaur and Principal Guneet Kaur, Shemrock. Ms Sheetaljee said, “This time we have arranged for a magic show because as kids we are all very fascinated with the tricks. Children love such amusing shows. They are entertaining as well as educative and a very effective way of communicating with children”.

shem2H.G. Ley also fondly known as Hyderabad Genius Ley uses magic as a tool for effective learning. He says, “Look, listen and learn”, that is the idea behind educating children and equipping teachers to make studies more motivating and appealing. Giving an example he says that anything that is repeated 21 times consciously becomes a habit. An inspirational speaker and qualified master practitioner of neurolinguistic programming from the National Federation of Neurolinguistic Psychology, Florida (USA), Ley has adopted innovative ways to educate children as he uses magic as effective mode of communicating.

Entertaining children today Ley did quite a few tricks such as changing the colour of the rings from black to orange, white and green, while using the magic words HOCUS POCUS. The next trick was making biscuits from a can full of flour, as he amused kids with simple acts. The magic wand with a little bird on it and the red nosed doll which turned into a slice of water watermelon were well received by the kids. But the highlight of the show was Pinky the Monkey, through which Ley taught the importance of brushing teeth, drinking milk and going to school. Children responded the most to the puppet show as there were loud laughs and cheers in the classroom. Pinky also gave the message that children should not watch too much TV, study hard and finish their homework on time (see video clip).

shem1The day ended with a special treat for kids — cake, burgers and juice. It was party time for Priyansh, Ananya, Drisha, Ayaan and Arman who all together cut the cake. Principal Kaur said, “We try to teach kids through innovative means as by observing and through puppet shows children learn things faster”. She added, we will continue in our endevour to give the best to our kids and adopt new and creative methods to teach them while making learning to be a fun exercise.
