Under the leadership of CM Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Government has achieved remarkable progress in improving road safety across the state. Continuous and coordinated efforts have led to a significant decline in road accidents, resulting in the saving of numerous precious lives.
According to official data, 2,253 road accidents were reported in 2023. This figure declined to 2,147 in 2024, and only 1,457 accidents have been recorded so far in 2025. The consistent downward trend highlights the government’s proactive road safety measures, improved enforcement, and effective awareness campaigns aimed at ensuring safer travel for all citizens.
A government spokesperson noted that this achievement is particularly commendable as the state faced severe natural calamities such as landslides, floods, and cloudbursts in 2023 and 2025. Despite these challenges, the government’s unwavering focus on preventive action, infrastructure maintenance, and public education has helped minimize accidents and fatalities.
The spokesperson further added that road safety remains one of the top priorities of the present administration. Sukhu has directed all departments to adopt comprehensive strategies and take every possible step to eliminate road hazards. The government’s ultimate goal is not merely to reduce accident statistics but to safeguard every life on the roads of Himachal Pradesh.
This consistent improvement in road safety underscores the state government’s commitment to responsible governance, public welfare, and sustainable development.
