In a major step towards strengthening last-mile healthcare delivery, authorities have announced an extensive month-long outreach under which Ayushman Arogya Camps will be organised at 115 locations across Kangra during May 2026.
Chief Medical Officer Vivek Karol said the initiative is aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in rural and remote areas by taking essential medical services directly to people’s doorsteps. The camps will offer basic yet vital diagnostic facilities, including blood pressure monitoring, diabetes screening and chest X-rays.
The campaign will begin on May 1, covering locations such as Dadel and Deharu in Thural block, Bahadurpur in Fatehpur, and Deh in Indora. From there, it will steadily expand across the district, reaching areas including Shahpur, Nagrota Bagwan, Bhawarna, Nurpur, Jwalamukhi and Nagrota Surian.
Over the course of the month, medical teams will move through a wide network of villages—from Alampur and Banuri to Palampur, Miani and Kandrodi—ensuring coverage even in the most remote pockets of the district by May 30.
Dr. Karol stressed that the focus of the drive is early detection and timely management of rising lifestyle-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. He urged people to actively participate and benefit from the free services.
The district health machinery has been put in place with dedicated medical teams and diagnostic equipment to ensure smooth operations, with an emphasis on accessible, preventive healthcare at the grassroots level.
