The anti-drug campaign “Chitta-Free Himachal,” launched by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on 15 November 2025, has evolved into a widespread mass movement across the state, according to a spokesperson of the Himachal Pradesh Police.

The spokesperson stated that coordinated and intensive efforts are being carried out in multiple districts, with active participation from the government, administration, and the public, strengthening the fight against drug abuse.

Reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy, the police department has taken strict internal action. Four personnel from the STF Kullu unit were dismissed from service after being found involved in a serious NDPS case. Those dismissed include Constables Nitesh and Ashok, and Head Constables Rajesh Kumar and Sameer Kumar.

With this action, the total number of police personnel dismissed in drug-related cases in the state has risen to 21.

The spokesperson reiterated that the Chief Minister has sent a clear message that any involvement of police personnel in drug trafficking will not be tolerated. Strict action will also be taken against officers showing negligence or leniency towards offenders or their networks.
