In a vibrant display of cultural unity, Raj Bhavan, Shimla, hosted a special event today to commemorate the Statehood Days of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Sikkim, Goa, Telangana, and West Bengal under the central initiative ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Citizens from these states currently residing in Himachal Pradesh came together to celebrate their heritage through meaningful interactions and cultural expressions. The event reflected a spirit of warmth and shared identity.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla graced the occasion and honored the participants by presenting them with traditional Himachali caps and mufflers, symbolizing the state’s hospitality and commitment to cultural harmony.

Highlighting the essence of the event, the Governor said, Such gatherings embody the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat by uniting people from diverse backgrounds and making them feel at home away from home. He described the occasion as a glimpse of ‘Mini India’ within Himachal, where linguistic and cultural diversity thrives in harmony.

He emphasized the importance of promoting mutual respect among cultures while also preserving the unique traditions of each state. “These values should be nurtured and passed on to the younger generations,” he added.

Participants shared stories and traditions from their native regions, engaging with the Governor in a rich cultural exchange. The event became a platform for fostering national integration and celebrating India’s pluralism.

Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma and other dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
