A charming, vivid and lively presentation of events took place during the Annual Prize Distribution Function – 2013 at Hainault Public School as the tiny tots as well as the students from various classes got on the stage to display their acts. The annual day began with the lightening of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Lok Sabha Minister, Virender Kashyap and the Administrator of the school, Aditya Kumari followed by a welcome dance Ganesh Vandana by the senior students.
Principal, Ritu Pal read the school report highlighting the various achievements as well as the academic activities of the school during the current session. She said, “I am proud to announce that this school has produced many doctors, engineer, managers, officers in armed forces and most importantly good citizens of this nation. Activities held during the academic session were writing competitions, inter-house debates and declamations contests, Hindi as well as English poetry recitation, and the Hindi divas celebrations. Apart from this students actively participate as well as show great enthusiasm and zeal in sporting events such as badminton, table tennis and chess”.
She further added that the school organizes karate classes for classes 1 to 12 and students had shown quite an impressive display as they participated at the national and international levels and won many medals. The most notable contributions were from Arsh Thakur and Umesh Thakur who won gold medals in Bhutan in a karate competition. In the First Indo-Nepal Karate International Championship held in Delhi, Umesh Thakur brought laurels to the school as he won the gold medal.
For ensuring the all round development of the students, she added, “We at Hainault School encourage children to participate in various extracurricular activities, our students participated in the Science Olympiad and the students of classes XI and XII, Science stream participated in a workshop on Bioinformatics at the Jaypee University at Waknaghat.
The tree plantation drive organized by the School Eco Club in association with the Forest Department at the Five Bench Area, Jakhoo, was a huge success as the children planted 150 trees and the Department deputed the school Club to nurture that patch of land for the next two years.
Following a very democratic pattern of running the administrative setup of the school, Principal Pal, spoke about the various committees that had been constituted for a more interactive participation of both the teachers as well as the students. A Principals’ Advisory Committee met every month to discuss issues with teachers for the smooth functioning of the school, a Student Grievance Body and a Women Redressal Committee is setup to address specific student’s related issue. The Student Council headed by the Head Boy, Head Girl and various House Captains too met twice a year, bridging the gap between the teachers and the taught, hence creating a harmonious relationship among them. Regular PTMs too were held to keep the communicative channel open among parents and teachers to discuss the progress of the students and a recent introduction had been the mock drills on earthquake awareness and disaster management. In her conclusion, Principal Pal expressed gratitude and appreciation towards the Administrator, Aditya Kumari, and her staff for organizing such a beautiful event as well as the parents for making this day special for their children by being present in large numbers to encourage and support them.
Hon’ble Minister said that being an educator himself, he felt a close association with students as the bond between a teacher and a student is lifelong. He further added that great feats had been achieved in Himachal as sincere efforts were being made to provide the best education to all those living in villages too. Endevours were being made to provide free education up to class 12th to all students who could not afford to go to schools due to poverty. To show his appreciation as well as encourage children the Minister announced a cash prize of Rs 5100/-for the students.
Soon after the students took the stage and the Annual Day Celebrations began with the Fashion Show. Cute, sweet little kids walked the ramp showcasing their moves and grooved to the music followed by the senior students. Then students of Junior classes performed an entertaining dance number on Ek Ashiana. The Hindi play Kuch Aise Aise Hota Hai was a light-hearted comedy sending a clear message to parents as well as students that studies are important and making excuses to get out of little homework or study time was futile.
The vibrant Gujarati dance brought alive the colours of Gujarat, while the senior boys took the stage and sang a parody of patriotic songs, which reminded us of the glorious contributions of our leaders and those who fought for the freedom of our country. The performance of students enacting the English play titled Mother’s Day was quite brilliant. Here too a message was given to the children that they should stop taking their mothers for granted and should understand the hard work mothers put in every day to make their lives comfortable. The culture and rich heritage of Himachal was bought alive by the students as they performed Natti, a perfect closure to mark the evening as well as the day’s celebrations!
