Immediate Restoration of Damaged Water Supply Schemes

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has directed the Jal Shakti Department to promptly restore all damaged water supply schemes. This urgent action aims to ensure uninterrupted access to clean and safe water for the residents.

Regular Reporting and Information Sharing : Mukesh Agnihotri

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed the department to provide regular updates on the restoration progress. Specifically, information on the schemes’ status should be sent to the Head Quarter twice a day at 10 AM and 4 PM. Furthermore, timely uploading of this information on the State Disaster Management Authority’s website is essential to keep the public informed.

Maintaining Water Potability and Chlorination

To safeguard the potability of water, Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri emphasized the need for extensive water testing at source and tail end points across all water supply schemes. He further directed the department to ensure chlorination of all water supply schemes, maintaining the minimum prescribed residual chlorine at the tail-end points.

Record-keeping and Chemical Stock Maintenance

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed all Junior Engineers to maintain records of residual chlorine levels at various tanks and delivery points. Additionally, he stressed the importance of maintaining an adequate stock of bleaching powder, alum, and other chemicals at Divisional and Sub-Divisional levels. This ensures the availability of resources for water source chlorination and testing, preventing waterborne disease outbreaks.

Swift Response to Negative Social Reporting

Acknowledging the impact of social media, the Deputy Chief Minister directed immediate and proactive response to any negative social reporting. This approach aims to prevent panic among the public and address concerns promptly.

Ensuring Field Officer Availability and Leave Cancellation

Given the continuous heavy rainfall, the Jal Shakti Department has issued an advisory to guarantee potable water supply to beneficiaries. Consequently, all leave for field officers and staff has been cancelled, except in exceptional cases where alternative arrangements are in place. Officers are required to ensure the presence of all field officers and officials in their respective headquarters and areas.

By implementing these measures, the Deputy Chief Minister aims to expedite water supply restoration, maintain water quality, and address public concerns effectively.
