PIB Delhi – “I am your Friend, Partner & Colleague in Delhi”, said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minster of State for Electronics & IT and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship as he interacted with the villagers of border village Longwa and the member of village council. He further added that PM Narendra Modi’s Team India is working relentlessly with state & local self Govts for the Development of remote Cities, Towns & Villages like Longwa “. The Minister, currently on a 3 day tour started his day 2 by visiting the District Civil Hospital in Mon, Nagaland. He interacted with the Doctors and other frontline workers who played a critical role in fighting the Covid Pandemic in the District. He also noted that the Government of India has approved a 350 Cr Medical College Project for boosting the healthcare facilities of the Border District with central assistance to the tune of around 292 Cr.
The Minister was accompanied by S Phangnon Konyak, Member- Rajya Sabha, Mmhonlumo Kikon, MLA, Natiba Jamir, Advisor, Industries & Commerce , Labour & Employment , Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, party Karyakartas and senior officials representing the district administration, during the visit. The Minister thereafter traveled to Longwa village which is one of the biggest village under District Mon and straddles both Myanmar & India Border. The Minister was warmly received by the members of village council of Longwa led by Chairman Amao Angh, Vice Chairman C Noklem Konyak & S Yona Pastor among others and assured them that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Team India is working relentlessly with state and the local self governments to bring development, to the remote cities, towns and villages like Longwa. He struck a chord with the audience when he affirmed – “I am your colleague, partner and friend in Delhi”.
The Minister thereafter met local villagers, supporters, party Karyakartas and briefed them about the vision of PM Narendra Modi that aims to transform North East Region as one of the engines for India’s economic growth and work for development of remote cities, towns and villages that were hitherto neglected and ignored. The Minister also reviewed the progress of developmental & welfare schemes of the District with DC, SP and other key officials of the District Administration Mon. He directed the officials to focus upon saturating key schemes of the Government so that all benefits are made available to every beneficiary & No one is left behind. He also asked the authorities to prepare a detailed District Skill Development plan by mapping local skills and market. He suggested that emphasis must be on creating more jobs locally and to promote opportunities of entrepreneurship for the youth. The Minister accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP, MLAs & officials of District administration Mon then visited the forward border post of Longwa manned by the Assam Rifles. The Minister acknowledged the hardwork being put in by the men in uniforms for safeguarding Indian Borders and paid a respectful salute to all of them.
He recalled his childhood days when he grew up living in cantonments & Air Force stations spread across the length & breadth of this country, including Nagaland, as his father was is an Airforce veteran. The Minister thereafter flew to Dimapur where he visited the traditional & Heritage cluster at Sovima, Village. He interacted with the youth, trainers and students and discussed about the tremendous opportunities that Skill India holds for the youth of India in general and Nagaland & North East Region in particular. He mentioned about the success of Pilot Projects for Bamboo artisans and weavers that were promised by him during his last visit in September and were formally inaugurated in December the same year, within three months. The project has successfully mobilised the targeted 4100 artisans and registered over 3000 of them and formed 100 batches. The dedicated & targeted Pilot Project is promoting local Job creation and opportunities of entrepreneurship. The Minister, after marathon meetings and visits the entire day, chaired a meeting with key officials of District Administration of Aspirational District Kiphire at Dimapur itself, since inclement weather did not permit travel to Kiphire. He shared the vision of PM Narendra Modi which is to catalyze development in Aspirational districts through a focused approach, leveraging Whole of Government, and transform them into shining models for other districts to emulate.
