On the fourth day of Janaushadhi Saptah 2026, free health check-up camps were successfully organized across various states and union territories by the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The initiative, part of the nationwide outreach running from 1st to 5th March 2026, leads up to the 8th Janaushadhi Diwas on 7th March.

Even amidst Holi celebrations, the health camps saw enthusiastic participation from citizens. Services provided included free medical consultations, on-site diagnostic tests such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and thyroid screening, pediatric care, and guidance for chronic illnesses. Additionally, distribution of Janaushadhi medicines and Suvidha sanitary pads was carried out, along with awareness sessions highlighting the benefits of affordable, quality generic medicines.

Day 4 camps were organized at numerous locations including Doddaballapur and Bengaluru Urban (Karnataka), Mohol (Solapur, Maharashtra), Nowhatta (Downtown Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir), Palnadu (Andhra Pradesh), and Haveri (Karnataka), among others. Overall, around 250 venues nationwide are hosting free health camps during the week-long celebration.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), over 18,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) are operational across the country, providing quality generic medicines at affordable prices. The program aims to make essential medicines accessible to every citizen at significantly lower costs compared to branded alternatives, without compromising on quality. The government has set an ambitious target of establishing 25,000 Kendras by March 2027 to ensure no citizen is deprived of essential medicines due to financial constraints.

Entrepreneurs, pharmacists, doctors, and eligible individuals interested in opening a Janaushadhi Kendra can apply online through the official website, www.janaushadhi.gov.in. Financial assistance and incentives are provided under the scheme to encourage wider participation, offering an opportunity to support the nation’s healthcare mission while establishing a sustainable livelihood.
