Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced the launch of ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, a landmark nationwide agricultural campaign set to run from May 29 to June 12, 2025. Aimed at bridging the gap between scientific research and field-level farming, the initiative is a key step towards realizing PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Lab to Land’ vision and building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) through sustainable and modern agriculture.

Addressing the press at the National Media Centre, Chouhan emphasized the central role of developed agriculture, advanced farming practices, and empowered farmers in achieving national prosperity. He called the campaign a strategic move to ensure food security, increase farmer incomes, and promote environmentally responsible farming.

Key highlights of the campaign include:

  • Deployment of 2,170 expert teams (including scientists, agri-department officials, FPOs, and innovative farmers) to 65,000 villages across 723 districts
  • Three farmer engagement sessions per day in each village, focusing on crop planning, soil health, and climate-resilient practices
  • Direct interaction with over 1.3 crore farmers, encouraging feedback and problem reporting to guide future research
  • Use of Soil Health Cards, climate assessments, and crop recommendations to guide precise, low-cost, high-efficiency farming
  • Backed by 113 ICAR institutes, 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and 16,000 agricultural scientists

The campaign will be conducted every year before both Kharif and Rabi sowing seasons.  Chouhan highlighted India’s record agricultural output in 2024–25, including 3309.18 lakh tonnes of food grains, and emphasized the country’s ambition to become the “Food Basket of the World.”

By promoting a two-way exchange of knowledge between scientists and farmers, this campaign is expected to revolutionize Indian agriculture—making it more productive, profitable, and resilient for generations to come.
