The Government of India today launched ‘NAVYA’, a nationwide vocational training initiative aimed at empowering adolescent girls aged 16–18 with modern skillsets and holistic personal development. The program was inaugurated in the aspirational district of Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, by Union Ministers Jayant Chaudhary and Savitri Thakur.

Jointly spearheaded by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, NAVYA will be implemented across 27 aspirational districts in 19 states, starting with pilot programs in 9 key regions. Girls will receive hands-on training in emerging fields like graphic design, drone assembly, CCTV installation, smartphone repair, and professional makeup artistry under PMKVY 4.0, in addition to a 7-hour life skills module focusing on communication, safety, hygiene, and financial literacy.

Highlighting the launch, Jayant Chaudhary emphasized that NAVYA will help girls become self-reliant and entrepreneurial, while Savitri Thakur underlined the program as a “milestone for dignity, independence, and empowerment.”

The launch event was attended by key dignitaries including MPs, MLAs, district officials, and senior bureaucrats, underscoring strong political and administrative support. NAVYA aims to transform vocational training into a nationwide movement for social awareness, economic opportunity, and identity-building among India’s daughters.
