Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, informed the Rajya Sabha that the New Delhi Declaration, adopted at the Bharat 6G Symposium 2025, lays down the key principles for the development of future 6G networks.

The declaration highlights that 6G networks should be trusted and secure, resilient and reliable, open and interoperable, inclusive and affordable, and sustainable, recognizing 6G as a global public good.

The statement has been endorsed by leading global and regional 6G and advanced connectivity alliances, research platforms, and industry forums, including the Bharat 6G Alliance, 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA), ATIS’ NextG Alliance, XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF), 6G Forum, 6G Brasil, UK-India Future Networks Initiative (UKIFNI), UK Telecoms Innovation Network (UK TIN), UK Federated Telecoms Hubs (CHEDDAR, HASC, JOINER, TITAN), and the 6G Flagship at the University of Oulu.

The collaboration aims to strengthen global research and innovation in 6G, align perspectives on international standardisation through bodies like 3GPP and ITU, promote interoperability, and build trusted, resilient 6G ecosystems.

This initiative is expected to boost India’s role in global 6G research and standard-setting, enabling greater participation of Indian startups, MSMEs, academia, and research institutions, while positioning India as a key contributor to the global 6G ecosystem.

Earlier, the Government released the Bharat 6G Vision Document (March 2023), which aims to design, develop, and deploy advanced 6G technologies that deliver intelligent, secure, and universal connectivity, with the goal of making India a global leader in 6G technology by 2030.
