The Secretary Digital Technology and Governance Dr. Abhishek Jain presided over the Capacity Building Workshop on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform organized by the Department of Digital Technologies and Governance here today. Vice-President of ONDC Ms. Aditi Singha, delivered an insightful presentation elucidating the Open Network for Digital Commerce.

ONDC, a non-profit Section 8 company established by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade of the Government of India, aims to foster open e-commerce platforms. The presentation delved into the functionalities of ONDC and how government departments can facilitate the on boarding process. During the workshop, Dr. Abhishek Jain, urged the attending officers and officials to embrace e-commerce platforms, emphasizing the untapped potential of local products in Himachal Pradesh.

He stressed the importance of providing the right platform to market local products effectively and delivers quality services to end customers. Dr. Jain also called for widespread promotion of e-commerce platforms like ONDC. Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Priyatu Mandal said that the seller will get an equal opportunity to compete with large market players and that buyers will enjoy a seamless shopping experience from a wide range of products across categories in a single checkout experience.

Director of the Department of Digital Technologies and Governance Dr. Nipun Jindal, highlighted the significance of the workshop, noting that it marks the first of its kind in the state. The Director Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, MD Kaushal Vikas Nigam and Head of the Departments of various other departments attended the workshop.
