One Day Training/Workshop under JICA Forestry Project

One day training/workshop for staff and ward facilitators of Theog Forest Division was organized under JICA Forestry Project today at Circle level nursery Sainj. Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests cum Chief Project Director Nagesh Guleria presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the ₹800 crore JICA project is in progress in the state in 7 districts through 460 VFDSs/BMC sub committees He said that the 72 departmental nurseries have been upgraded under the project that helped to produce quality plants of different species and 4600 hectare area have been planted under departmental and Participatory Forest Management modes.

He added that Common Interest Group and Self Help Groups are encouraged to plant medicinal species under Biodiversity improvement programme. He said that more than 600 Self Help Groups/CIGs have been constituted in the state out of which more than 500 groups are pure female groups. He exhorted the staff and ward facilitators to keep up the pace of various interventions using modern technologies provided by JICA Project For Improvement of Forest Ecosystems Management and Livelihoods. Project Director Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Ompal sharma (HPFS , Retd.) , SMS Reena Sharma ,Abhay Mahajan were present on the occasion.
